Overview
The focus of this educational program is to assist a facility in maintaining compliance regarding the current clinical standards of practice of ulcer assessment. Teaching material is based upon current standards of ulcer management and will review the changes in clinical practice in long term care facilities as they relate to various ulcer types. This program is designed to improve communication concerning resident care in preventing ulcer occurrence and ulcer management for residents with an ulcer.
Upon completion of this workshop the participant will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of the clinical importance of ulcer assessment;
- Describe ulcer and periwound characteristics;
- Identification and documentation of deep tissue injury;
- Distinguish between contamination, colonization and infection;
Presenter:
This program will be presented by Dr. Chuck Gokoo, MD, CMO, CWS, FACCWS, and Chief Medical Officer for American Medical Technologies.
