Other Committees

  • WHCA Associate Membership Committee:

  • Chairperson: Gregory Syvrud
  • This committee is designed to give associate members a more formalized vehicle through which to voice their needs and concerns to the Board of Directors. This committee works to ensure the timeliness and quality of the services WHCA/WiCAL provides its associate members, in an effort to help foster productive working relationships with WHCA/WiCAL member facilities.
  • WHCA Budget Committee:

  • Chairperson: Jim Deignan
  • This committee is charged with the development of WHCA/WiCAL's annual operating budget. The budget is generally developed in August and September. The Budget Committee's recommendation for the operating budget for the next calendar year is presented to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors at the Association's Fall Convention. The committee can meet, as needed, at other times during the year.
  • WHCA Bylaws Committee:

  • Chairperson: Cliff Woolever
  • This committee addresses and resolves all questions referred to and relative to the interpretations of the Association's Bylaws. Moreover, the committee provides continuing oversight on the Bylaws to assure that they are consistent with the direction and desires of the membership. On request from the Board of Directors, it drafts written policy consistent with the association's constitution and bylaws and presents the draft to the Board of Directors for approval. It keeps the policies up to date in an organized manner and makes them accessible to the membership.
  • WHCA Education Committee:

  • Co-Chair: Jim Deignan
  • This committee is charged with the development and implementation of educational programs and conferences for member facilities. This includes the location planning, exhibitor solicitation and the coordination of all educational and entertainment functions at WHCA conferences. Particular emphasis is placed on WHCA/WiCAL's Spring Conference and Fall Convention. Throughout the year, the committee is to work in conjunction with the association staff in planning and implementing educational offerings for members and non‐members involving a variety of topics available.
  • WHCA Independent Providers Committee:

  • Co-Chair: Steve Kuranz
  • This committee serves as a forum for the independent provider (less than three facilities under similar management) to voice their individual and collective concerns regarding the issues confronting the long term care industry. This committee will continue to meet jointly with the Quality Advancement Committee on a regular basis, and separately as needed.
  • WHCA Multi-Facility Providers Committee:

  • Chairperson: Dawn March
  • This committee serves as a forum for the multi‐facilities (three or more facilities under similar management) to voice their individual and collective concerns regarding the issues confronting the long term care industry.
  • WHCA Payment for Services Committee:

  • The primary purpose of this committee is to review and advance recommendations on the complex reimbursement issues confronting Wisconsin's health care industry. It generally meets monthly to address the impact of the statutes, regulations and policies on nursing home reimbursement. It makes specific recommendations for the structuring of the Wisconsin nursing home reimbursement methodology as well as the statutory and regulatory framework.
  • WHCA Political Affairs Liaison Committee:

  • Chairperson: Richard Rau
  • This committee, cognizant of the impact of local, state, and federal legislation on our industry, is designed to foster membership contributions to, and participate in, the substantial political activities of WHCA/WiCAL. Additionally, this committee is responsible to establish strategies to allow the association to enact its mission in terms of the legislative process. Attention should be placed on the unique aspects of the political arena as it pertains to local, state, and federal activities.
  • WHCA Quality Advancement Committee:

  • Chairperson: Klare Volgren
  • The Quality Advancement is a collaborative effort to develop resources for the membership in the areas of clinical practice and person directed care. This committee serves as a steering committee for two sub‐committees. One sub‐committee will promote clinical advancement; a second sub‐committee will facilitate person directed care efforts. Resources from Metastar, Quality First/Advancing Excellence, and the Wisconsin Coalition for Person Directed Care provide guidance as the committees identify their respective goals and objectives. As the collaboration moves forward it is the vision to provide the membership of WHCA/WiCAL with a compendium of valuable information that will guide them through various clinical issues, as well as the culture change movement.
